Unit tasks:-
Among the top priorities of the above unit are controlling the circulation of dangerous and radioactive chemicals in colleges laboratories and warehouses, following up on the method of storing materials, the adequacy of the existing number of warehouses, and achieving security and safety in chemical laboratories.
Unit tasks: The unit follows the following tasks:
Inventory of chemical materials in the warehouses and laboratories of the colleges (every 6 months)
Inventory of radioactive sources (annually).
Agreements and studies on Iraq's obligations regarding Basel Convention
Forming committees related to safety and risk management.
Follow up on any topic related to scientific and medical laboratories and holding courses in this regard.
Conduct field visits to college laboratories and warehouses periodically for the following purposes:
A- Follow up on the safety precautions for the of laboratory workers (laboratory and warehouse officials and students) from the chemicals in circulation.
B - The rules followed for storing chemical materials, how to store dangerous materials such as nitrates and mercury, and the preservation of radioactive elements in a way that prevent leak or spread radiation.
C - Follow up on hygiene inside laboratories.
D- Follow up on records of dangerous and toxic chemical and biological materials, as well as dispensing records, and ensure their accuracy.
E- The extent to which warehouse officials carry out their duties and their efficiency in avoiding accidents due to poor handling of chemicals.
F- Following up on the provision of first aid supplies and the availability of guidelines to prevent smoking and providing alarms and warning devices about fires before they break out.
G - Monitor the presence of warning signs on warehouse doors.
H - The extent of the presence of space that allows smooth movement within the laboratory and warehouse.
