Prof. Dr. Firas F. Kazim, Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Ayen Iraqi University participated as a member and supervisor in the discussion committee of the master's thesis of the student Zainab Muhammad Kazim at Al-Muthanna University, about her thesis entitled:

"Modeling of optical crystal fibers based on graphite in optical devices"

The discussion took place on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in the hall of the Physics Department at the College of Science at Al-Muthanna University, in the presence of an elite group of academics and graduate students.

The thesis dealt with the development of optical crystal fibers using innovative materials such as graphite, with a focus on improving performance and reducing environmental costs. The student reviewed the challenges she faced in designing fibers and improving coupling points using the interaction of surface plasmon supermodes and guided modes, which contributed to increasing sensitivity in optical equipment and facilitating the detection of subtle changes in the signal.

 At the end of the discussion, the committee praised the student’s efforts and considered the research a qualitative addition in the field of optical devices. After the thesis met the required academic standards, the committee decided to accept the thesis, wishing the student further success in her academic career.
